    What is Discord Notification?

Discord is an instant messaging and VoIP social platform widely used by developer communities and teams. Xitoring can send incident alerts to your Discord server via webhooks, keeping your team informed in the channels they already use.

    Why Use Discord Notifications?

    • Community-friendly — Great for open-source projects and dev communities
    • Rich embeds — Alerts display with formatted cards and color-coded severity
    • Free to use — No additional cost for webhook integrations
    • Multiple channels — Route different alert types to different channels

    How to Configure Discord Notifications

Step 1: Create a Discord Webhook

    1. Open your Discord server
    2. Go to Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks
    3. Click New Webhook
    4. Choose the channel for alerts and name the webhook (e.g., "Xitoring Alerts")
    5. Copy the Webhook URL

Step 2: Create a Notification Role in Xitoring

    1. Log in to your Xitoring Dashboard
    2. Go to Settings → Notification Roles
    3. Click Create New Role
    4. Name it (e.g., "Discord Alerts")

Step 3: Add the Discord Channel

    1. Click Add Contact in the notification role
    2. Select Discord as the channel
    3. Paste the Discord Webhook URL
    4. Save the configuration

    Step 4: Test It

    1. Click Send Test to send a test alert
    2. Verify the message appears in your Discord channel

    Best Practices

    • Create a dedicated #alerts or #monitoring channel
    • Use Discord's notification settings to control @mentions for critical alerts
    • Keep the webhook URL secret — treat it like a password
    • Set up separate webhooks for different severity levels
